2017-2018 Season

Welcome to the Skagit Valley Yellowjackets youth wrestling program. We are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to assisting and teaching your child the wrestling fundamentals. Our club is open to boys & girls between the ages of 5 and 14. Our season runs from approximately November 1st to January 31st.

Cost

  • Club dues-$75 paid at registration and includes team t-shirt.


  • USA Wrestling Card-$15. This can only be purchased online and is mandatory to practice with the team and compete at tournaments (Go to usawmembership.com to create profile, select Skagit Valley Yellowjackets as your team and purchase card). If you do not have access to a computer, we can order one for you.


  • Card upgrade will be required if attending the State tournament at end of the year.


  • Tournaments: Entry fee for wrestlers is approximately $20-$25. Spectators are free.

Practice

  • Tuesday & Thursday beginning 11/07/17 @6:00-7:30 Lucille-Umbarger Elementary. Weekly schedule to follow.


  • You must have completed and submitted the following to attend practice: Registration form, Release & Waiver of Liability, copy of USA wrestling card.


Clothing

  • T-shirt, shorts, and clean shoes. Wrestling shoes are recommended and will be required for tournaments.


  • The club will provide wrestlers with a team singlet to be worn at tournaments only and needs to be turned in at the end of the season or if you are no longer participating in the club.


Tournaments

  • Will either be a Novice (1st & 2nd year wrestlers) or Open (all skill level) event.


  • Held on Saturday or Sunday at various locations. Go to: washingtonstatewrestling.com (Region I) for schedule.


  • Pre-registration for Open tournaments can only be submitted thru trackwrestling.com.


  • Weigh-ins is from 7:00 - 8:00 am and requires a USA wrestling card to participate.


  • Wrestling starting at 10:00 beginning with the youngest age/weight and working up.


  • These events are usually double elimination and can be an all-day event depending on how successful your wrestler is.


If you are a returning wrestler who has outgrown his/her wrestling shoes or have a team singlet, PLEASE! Bring them to the club so they can be recycled to new or younger members.
